- Limited construction possibilities due to given room situations and special space situations → Step size, stairs foot and head areas and head heights must be adapted if necessary
- Missing information on materials used in the masonry or on concrete and wood quality → in older buildings, walls and floors may need to be opened for inspection
- Structural analyses may be required to determine the bearing forces → existing buildings may not be designed for steel staircases or self-supporting steel constructions
