Modern stringer stairs | Post Luxembourg

2022, Luxembourg

At the new headquarters of Luxembourg Post, the modern stringer stairs with a height of 30 meters are the central sculpture in the atrium.

Modern stringer stairs in the "HELIX"

With its new "HELIX" business headquarters, Luxembourg Post, one of the largest employers in the small state, is also making a strong architectural statement for integration and cohesion. The centerpiece of the extraordinary new building with 18,000 square meters of office space and room for around 850 employees is the modern stringer stairs in the atrium, which spiral upwards in the form of a helix and thus give the company headquarters, which will open in the capital in July 2023, its name. The term "helix" exists in many languages and stands for a culture of openness and inclusion at Post Luxembourg with its employees from over 50 different nations. As a zero-energy building with DGNB Platinum certification, the building was realized in accordance with the latest sustainability standards.

Monumental modern stringer stairs

At an impressive height of 30 meters, the modern stringer stairs made of flat steel connect the nine above-ground floors of the open-plan office complex and impress with their monumental dimensions and masterful execution. Rounded landing transitions and the smooth steel soffit lining as sophisticated structural elements give the steel staircase its sculptural character. In addition to the main staircase, a secondary staircase runs in the opposite direction from the atrium directly to the second floor, giving the modern stringer stairs their dynamic base. The system was realized throughout with closed stringers and steel steps in a timber folding design. Handrails made of fine solid wood and LED spotlights for the spot lighting system run along the inside of both sides of the modern stringer stairs. In the premium staircase construction segment, METALLART has achieved a masterpiece in planning, execution and assembly with this modern stringer stairs.

MetallArt was also responsible for the calculation and preparation of the verifiable statics and vibration analysis for the realization of the modern stringer stairs.
