From a handicraft business to a modern industrial enterprise

1922

The first written records of the blacksmith’s shop Schmid in Salach go back to the year 1922. Since 1990 however the company has been family-owned. At that time Josef Schmid sen. was the head of the business. He was the grandfather of the present managing partner Johannes Schmid.

1990

In the mid-1980s Johannes Schmid took over the blacksmith’s shop, which in the meantime operated as locksmith’s business. In 1990 the company was converted into Metallbau Schmid GmbH.

1995

In 1995 an own manufacturing hall for the staircase division was built and therefore the production surface increased to 4.500 m². In the same year the MetallArt Treppen Metallbau Schmid GmbH was established.

2009

Both enterprises merged into MetallArt Metallbau Schmid GmbH.

2017

Formation of MetallArt Treppen AG in Switzerland to expand the local market presence

2017/2018

Change of name. The company is now registered as MetallArt Treppen GmbH.

Today approximately 140 persons are employed at MetallArt Treppen GmbH.

MetallArt Treppen AG is responsible for the distribution and customer service in Switzerland. The company is regularly present at trade fairs in Germany and abroad and aligns its quality “made in Germany” to international standards. With extraordinary projects, outstanding company achievements and technical innovations, MetallArt has repeatedly won various awards.

Business management

MetallArt Treppen GmbH is represented by the two managing directors Susanne Bücher and Johannes Schmid as authorised signatory. Thanks to their many years of experience and extensive expertise, they complement each other perfectly and form a qualified executive team.
After studying business administration (BA), Susanne Bücher already held leading positions in several companies in the financial sector. Since 2016 she has been responsible for the entire commercial section at MetallArt Treppen GmbH.
As a trained master locksmith, Johannes Schmid has been managing the present MetallArt Treppen GmbH since 1985. In addition to his enthusiasm and passion for staircase construction, he believes that discipline and an unconditional demand for quality are the bases for a successful corporate management.

The MetallArt management can look back on a remarkable company development. Within a few years, the number of employees has doubled and the company serves a broad international customer base with administration and production sites. In addition to responsible corporate and personnel management, the executives have always set ambitious goals for the development of new sales territories and successfully implemented these goals. With highly qualified employees and constant technological development, the staircase designers of MetallArt set the highest standards in stairbuilding and are optimally positioned for the future.
