1922

The first written records of the blacksmith’s shop Schmid in Salach go back to the year 1922. Since 1900, however, the company has been family-owned. At that time Josef Schmid sen. was the head of the business. He was the grandfather of the longstanding managing partner Johannes Schmid.

1990

In the mid-1980s Johannes Schmid took over the blacksmith’s shop, which in the meantime operated as locksmith’s business. In 1990 the company was converted into Metallbau Schmid GmbH.

1995

In 1995 an own manufacturing hall for the staircase division was built and therefore the production surface increased to 4.500 m². In the same year the MetallArt Treppen Metallbau Schmid GmbH was established.

Both enterprises merged into MetallArt Metallbau Schmid GmbH.
