Curved flat-steel stringer stairs
Superb stair sculpture
With parapet-high stringers, elegant light cove and smooth-surfaced soffit cladding, the flat steel stringer stairs excel as homogeneous sculpture.
Project description
Sculptural flat-steel stringer stairs
The elegant stairs lead from the basement to the attic and characterise the interior of the upscale single-family home in Münster. Despite the immense amount of steel that was used, the flat steel stringer stairs are defined by their lightness and elegance and blend gracefully into the style of the private residential building. Innovative design solutions, state-of-the-art production, assembly technologies and, last but not least, skilled craftsmanship form the basis for convincing solutions in staircase construction. All this resulted in a fascinating overall ensemble for this building project and lends the residence its unique, representative character.
Excellent craftsmanship for flat-steel stringer stairs
The curved flat steel stringer stairs get their special dynamic from the parapet-high stringers on both sides, which, while serving as fall protection, also emphasise the homogeneous design. In addition, the smooth underside cladding provides for the sculptural appearance of the construction. It is made from precisely shaped steel sheets welded flush with the surface on the underside of the stringers in line with the run of the stairs. As a design element, it also optimises the vibration behaviour of the flat steel stringer stairs and significantly contributes to the structural stability. The indirect lighting on the outer stringer is realised with a sophisticated steel construction. Transparent all-glass railings at the ceiling openings complete the exclusive flat-steel stringer stairs.

Light cove & handrail for flat-steel stringer stairs
- Horizontal flat steel welded to the outer stringer, extension as light cove by means of a welded vertical flat steel
- Vertical completions with tube sections at the stairs foot and head for cable routing and as optical finish
Soffit cladding for flat-steel stringer stairs
- Exactly shaped steel sheets, flush-welded at the bottom of the stringers according to the stairs run
- Weld seams accurately finished and ground for a homogeneous appearance
- Improved statics and optimised vibration behaviour due to structural contribution
Stylish all-glass railings
- Transparent all-glass railings at the ceiling openings
- Straight and horizontal run
- Laminated/tempered safety glass panes, length up to 2,250 mm, glass joints approx. 10-20 mm
